12th March 2006 - Diary

The Wantage Diary is back. Found and bought a great diary - much neater than the last one. Current version is multi-user, but sadly not enough for dozens of users. I am hoping that the next release (mid 2006?) will include provision for unlimited users. Meanwhile, events need to be sent to webmaster@wantage.com.

11th March 2006 - Diary

The old diary software we used to use is no longer free. In fact it is rather expensive. So I have tracked down an alternative, paid for it, installed it and... guess what. The way it functions in practice is different to how it appears in the demo. You never find these things out until you spend hours looking at the fine detail. Hey ho. Please bear with me, as I plan to find another one. Howard.

4th March 2006 - Forum

The Wantage Forum is back. I have used different software this time. It is called phpBB, which is very similar to the previous system we used, but I reckon it is better. If you’d like to see a new category added, or have any other comments, please send an email to webmaster@wantage.com.

30th January 2006 - Challenges

Where is the Diary?
Where is the Forum?
Where are the Classifieds?

All very good questions.

wantage.com was moved to a faster and more robust server last Autumn. It cost more money than the previous server, but we reckoned it was well worth it...

...trouble is, it wasn’t more robust. The entire system nose-dived last week and all was trashed. Even the backups. Robust my foot.

We are now running on the server we were on before and will be adding back the lost services as and when time permits. Apologies for the loss of service and the loss of data. I have working day and night (literally) to restore the other 40 websites that were hit, so I think I’ll go and have a nap...
