The South Wales Male Choir. The South Wales Male Choir, (Côr Meibion De Cymru), will be visiting Wantage, once again in March. The choir with royal patronage from HRH The Prince of Wales, is one of the foremost in the principality. The Choir is proud of its reputation for harmonic singing from a wide repertoire, for example, Welsh tunes, show songs, selections from opera and popular melodies. The Choir, formed in 1982, brings together men from across south Wales. There is also a contingent of choristers from Bristol and Wantage. Choristers travel from a wide area to five weekly practice groups, spread across Wales and Oxfordshire. The whole Choir rehearses regularly, in Port Talbot, under the musical direction of Elaine Robins. New members are assured of a very warm welcome. The Choir has circled the globe, visiting the USA, Mexico, Canada, France, the Benelux Countries, Monaco, Australia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland, Spain and Gibraltar. In 2011 the choir enjoyed a musical cruise to the Baltic States, with concerts in Tallinn, St. Petersburg and Kristansand. The Choir has sung in many prestigious concert halls and cathedrals, including St. Davids, Pembrokeshire, Llandaff, Brecon, Hereford, Winchester, Salisbury, St. Albans, Southwark, Romsey Abbey and York Minster. The concert in Wantage Parish Church will be the fifth visit to the town, by the choir. The concert will also feature the popular tenor, Peter Totterdale, young treble Ethan Clarke and the choir of Stockham School, Wantage, who will be singing songs from the shows. An exciting musical evening awaits the audience, so book the date in your diary now Saturday March 3rd at 7.30pm. Abingdon Air & Country Charity Show 2012 The 13TH annual Abingdon Air & Country Show takes place on Sunday 6th May, at Abingdon Airfield, Oxfordshire, one of the regions larger charity events and helping to raise funding for the local Thames Valley & Chiltern Air Ambulance Trust. Amongst the first confirmed participants so far are a World War Two P51 Mustang and World War Two Hurricane as part of the Flying Displays, the Hurricane hopping over from its base at North Moreton, Didcot, owned by Peter Vacher.
