Dedication of Toc H bench at bandstand in Wantage Memorial  Park

On September 16th 2019 members of Toc H Wessex gathered at the bandstand in the memorial park to dedicate a bench which they had raise money to purchase for the people who visit the park.

The bench was given as a token of remembrance of the men and women who lost their lives in the wars of the 20th and 21st century, but also to encourage friendliness and alleviation of loneliness. It is hoped that many conversations take place on the Toc H bench!

The padre of Toc H Wessex, the Revd Roger Williams, blessed the bench which was then used to be a table for the refreshments, and a toast was given to Toc H Wessex branch. The convenor of the branch, Linda Parker, made some remarks and also the Mayor of Wantage, Major Jim Sibbald  made a short speech ,

The occasion was linked to the previous branch of Toc H in Wantage in the 1960s by the presence of the Toc H Wantage branch Banner, which has now been placed in the museum at Wantage.
