By popular demand the re-enactment group known as The Vikings will be back at Manor Road Park on Saturday and Sunday 27th/28th September to celebrate Wantage’s most famous son, King Alfred the Great.
Wantage Town Mayor Councillor Fiona Roper said “Last year’s celebrations were such a success that we have arranged for the Vikings to come back again, the only difference is that we have brought the event forward a month in the hope of better weather.
For those who were not able to make it last year, there is a programme of events to suit all ages, with craft stalls, living history exhibits and even a chance for children to fight a Viking!”
This event, which is free to the public, has been sponsored by Wantage Town Council.
“I believe that these kind of events bring the people of the town together,”
said Councilor Roper. “We have had many new families come to Wantage over the past few years and this is a great way to bring them together and welcome them to our lovely town.”
