Wantage presents… was launched 10.30am Saturday 14th June by Melobo English Ceilidh Band, who played lots of lively tunes outside of The Bear in Wantage.
Melobo raised £82.00 in aid of Wantage Food Bank.
Well done to the people in Wantage who donated so generously.
The band were then invited to BBC Radio Oxford to publicise “Wantage presents…” where they were given a 30 minute spot (chatting and playing tunes “live”). Thanks Iain!
Since then we have enjoyed the music of:
Nick Ruck (Sweatbox)
Dave Oakes (Wantage Blind Club and Sweatbox)
Howard & Lucia (First Responders)
Polecat (British Hen Welfare Trust)
Cornucopia and The Shady Grove String Band (October Club)
Sarah Fell (Sobell House)
Brian Staton (Air Ambulance)
and there’s more to come…
Flower of the Quern
Rose Hips Belly Dancers
Shotgun Weather Ferret
So next time you’re in Wantage on Market Day at 10.30am (most Saturdays and Wednesdays) – try and make it over to The Bear to enjoy songs, tunes and maybe even have a dance.
Thanks to The Bear (for the electric), the Wantage Town Team for helping with publicity, Lynn Christer, Annie Hill, Howard Hill (me) and Annette Edwards for fab photos, Wantage Town Council for letting us make Music in the Marketplace, all the fabulous musicians and dancers and of course, the generous Wantage residents and visitors.
