There was a point in February when I thought the programme would be rather sparse. How wrong I was – there are more events than ever – 64 in total! The aim of the Festival is to raise the profile of the many diverse activities, organisations and volunteers which make up our vibrant community. Entertainment and leisure is often very expensive these days, but there’s plenty of events at a very low cost and some are free!
To mention a few: the Museum have arranged an excellent programme of talks based on an historical theme, especially WW1. The Wilts & Berks Canal Trust have gone into overdrive and arranged even more of their popular canal walks which give a fascinating insight into Wantage’s history and heritage, and the huge amount of work undertaken in restoration projects. Dophin Art have arranged five art demonstrations with local artists using various media, so pop in and be inspired! Umami Delicatessan are hosting two tutored Cheese & Wine evenings. Richmond Village at Letcombe Regis have devised an exciting weekend of entertainment. Our excellent Silver Band have a couple of concerts – one of which is a picnic concert at their Tugwell field premises and it’s a free event. So get out your diaries/smart phones and book in some entertainment.
Many thanks to the Wantage Town Council and Vale of White Horse District Council for their grants, to the Festival committee for their support, and to all the participants in this Festival.
